I just couldn't stay away.
I know I said in the last post that I was going to be MIA til August, but, here I am. I have been furiously updating the website- adding new products (we have hard-copy books you can buy now!) and a brand new page for resources I've found in my travels . In addition, we've been creating new counseling/ESL guides, and getting all Bilingual Learner's social media in order (btw, check out our new Pinterest page and follow us there, for some very cool resources I've stumbled upon in the Pinterest world).
And as I've been working, I've come across several items and experiences I just had to share! First of all, shameless movie plug here because I saw World War Z last night with Brad Pitt and I can't stop thinking about it! Wow. What a movie. If you like Zombie-scifi-medical thrillers, then stop what you are doing right now and go buy some tickets online for tonight. And almost as amazing as the movie is Brad Pitt and his hair IN the movie. I was baffled by how good one man's hair can look until my husband pointed out that BP had three hairdressers listed in the credits. Oh. Either way, Angelina is one lucky woman!
Ok, back to educational things. First, I have to share my new favorite ESL quote (that I've also posted on the Bilingual Learner brand new Twitter site- check it out if you want some serious laughs AND the latest from the best minds, IMO, in the counseling and ESL world).
From Cloyd Rivers:
"Ain't no point in usin' proper English. This ain't Englishland, it's Merica. We speak Merican."
And since I saved the best for last...the most exciting news of all! We have TWO new guides coming out in August: ESL for Beginners Culture Explorers AND an as yet untitled grief brief-counseling sessions guide. If you have any ideas for a title on this, comment below and if I pick your title, I'll send you the new grief guide FREE!
Finally, I'll leave you with a few funny pictures from the Bilingual Learner mascot...I captioned them below in order of the pictures. Keep in mind these pics covered a 3 minute time period.
1. Kitty jumped in the office desk drawer I was re-organizing, all gung-ho to help out.
2. Kitty got distracted.
3. Kitty says, "Yea, I'm done helping.
That's all folks!
